Craig Shaw (Shawsy) passed away suddenly on Monday 20th September. Shawsy is the father of two of the clubs junior players and was a long standing member of the club’s Masters Team.
Shawsy has been a part of the Lane Cove Cricket Club for the past 10 years when his eldest son started in the Milo In-2-Cricket kids program.
He was always the first to put up his hand to score or umpire for the junior teams, and more recently moved into coaching his daughter's Under 15 girls team.
If there was a job to do Craig was always the first to volunteer.
Shawsy started playing full time with Masters Team in the 2016/17 season. He was a very classy wicket-keeper and gritty middle order bat whose best innings usually came against strong opposition and generally in a time of crisis. Shawsy would always dig in and fight hard putting a very high price on his wicket.
Shawsy had a genuine interest in all people he met and lightened the mood of every room he entered. Forever smiling, Shawsy was always the very best of company. A generous and gentle soul, our club has lost a great man.
